The Chilean Mapocho River is going to be the first river in the world lit by art works.
The event is going to happen on Tuesday January 18 at 9 PM, in front of the highest public authorities of Chile (from Sebastian Pinera, President of Republic, to Pablo Zalaquett, Alcalde of Santiago City). A great show of art, lights and music, which will take place on the kilometre between the bridges Pio Nono and Patronato, is being prepared for the opening of the ArtedeLuz museum, with an all-night-long exhibition of a never-seen-b efore murales by visual artist Catalina Rojas, titled “Chile a la Luz”.
The event has been organized by the Santiago City Town Hall and by the Enersis Group (Enersis, Endesa Chile and Chilectra) with the help of the Bicentennial Commission and the Chilean Council for National Heritage. 26 Martin Exterior 1200 will be used along with 104 full color gobos by the Italo-French Goboservice.
In the long run, the ArtedeLuz museum project is going to be a free and permanent artistic and cultural platform, based on contemporary artworks’ projections on the banks and on the bed of the Mapocho River. The Museum will act as invitation to world artists so they could create some proposals to enrich the “art by light” concept.
