For the second time, Goboservice goes to China to provide the gobos used in the Zhongnanshan tunnel, the world’s longest two-tube tunnel (18 km) and at the same time the world’s second longest tunnel (after Norway’s Laerdal tunnel).

The tunnel is made of four lanes, divided into two one-way tubes: the width of each tube is 10,92 metres, the height is 7,6 metres. The tunnel has reduced the distance between the two nearest towns from 146 to 64 km, and the travelling time from 3 hours to 40 minutes.
Before the opening, some artificial plants had been put inside the tunnel, which crosses the Zhongnan mountains (hence the name) in the Shanxi province, and a sky-like effect had been created (with coloured lights and clouds projected on some parts of the vault) to reduce the driver’s fatigue (it takes 15 minutes to cross the tunnel).

After a first order in 2006, this year Goboservice received a second order for a new supply of gobos. In fact, it has been decided to add a submarine effect (with some tropical fishes underwater) to the already present sky effect (with coloured lights and the projection of white clouds on a blue background).
For this reason Goboservice had to produce 172 gobos (both full-colour and greyscale), as usual in a very short time.
